True enough that sometimes don’t really appreciate a place until no longer there…Memphis, TN is somewhere I’ve been for a decent portion of time and is definitely a place to see, do, and be at some point along the way…the rich history and culture seduces from the open doors and balconies of the many music venues on Beale Street…and then completely enfolds you once inside..

“The blues was like that problem child that you may have had in the family. You was a little bit ashamed to let anybody see him, but you loved him. You just didn’t know how other people would take it.

For anyone who loves to travel or dreams of one day dropping everything and walking away there is a movie worth seeing - 180 degrees South (http://www.180south.com.com/). A documentary about Jeff Johnson, a guy who roughly follows along the same 1968 journey that Yvon Chouinard and Doug Tompkins did to Patagonia. Even if you are not much one for documentaries the scenery of the movie will have you packing your bags and booking a ticket before the day is done.
