Plane Ride Over…

Bleary eyed, I raised my head to peer out into the brilliant whiteness…could not see land so buried my head back into my pillow to try and grasp at the last few moments of sleep before landing. This was a bit difficult as for the whole cross-Atlantic flight, the flight attendants and pilot felt the uncontrollable desire to update the passengers on a minute-by-minute basis as to weather in Dublin, possible turbulence ahead, change of movies (which, who was going to watch at two a.m. I do not know) and so on. In addition to the vital information they imparted to us, it was also extremely important that the volume of the sound system exceed max level in order to reach the furthest corners of the plane. While extremely courteous and generous, it was also deemed necessary to feed us both a dinner and breakfast within the six hours of flying we did between 10:10 pm and 4:10 am Eastern time. Would have been a lovely day time plane ride…but, in the middle of the night, it left a bit to be desired.
